Sarah Palin: American Law Should Be 'Based On The God Of The Bible And The Ten Commandments'

The Pilgrims tried to start a theocracy here. Some of the history's on the net.

I have a book at home concerning religion and American history. Seems many of the laws of the Connecticut Colony were directly lifted from the Old Testament.

Usually the ones with a death penalty.

If you wonder what a theocracy here would be like, there's plenty of fiction written. . .'The Handmaid's Tale', Heinlein's Future History stories. . .or you could read about the attempted genocide of the Mormon Church. To murder Mormons was still a law in Missouri up till the end of the 20th Century.

Catholic-Protestant killings and violence stopped somewhere around 1910-1930, if I remember. There weren't enough Jews in the country to make full-scale pogroms worthwhile, and of course there were ALWAYS the Indians. . .and the blacks had the KKK, who among other things saw itself as doing God's work. . .
