i'll submit the cosmos may be conscious in and of itself, and maybe the multiverse (if it exists). this would be a function of the hidden variable at the quantum level. in that case, all things that exist are alive.
in an infinite multiverse, literally anything is possible.
thing is that many adhere to the science of about 4000BCE-100CE. Dante's 'Divine Comedy' was the science of the 1300's. better, but also superseded.
however, this is 2010. things have changed a bit. your opinions are okay, but they're open to rebuttal and criticism.
people cling to belief and safety because they fear true freedom. unable to comprehend infinity or eternity, they cling to a closed cosmos of limited time. they look for a 'happy hunting ground' and a place of punishment for those who don't belong to their group.
they want to be safe. they don't want to be free. they deny anything that threatens their obsessive safety. they want to think they're 'special'.
freedom implies risk. it implies consequences. freedom is not some uberdeity laying down laws for peoples walking the desert 3500 years ago. that is stasis, which deadens development and the spirit.
rationalizations and justifications take the place of explanation. 'because i said so' takes the place of finding out what the facts are.
and virtually all religions can basically be reduced to 'Abracadabra!'
therefore Mandrake.
