How America's Evangelical Leaders Wield Power

* there aren't that many young people being employed nowadays, let alone old people. . .although the numbers seem to be starting to climb. for many, there are no alternatives. it's a form of indentured servitude or slavery, in my opinion.

* this country is shifting to a new economic-technologial paradigm, which is not amenable to many older people. as we shift to an information age, those who've worked all their lives in an industrial paradigm will be confronted by a new world. they won't have the training/experience/competency to work in the new jobs in most cases, thereby making them unemployable. twenty-thirty years of computer experience isn't the same as twenty-thirty years of road construction or house construction.

* as always, the GOP is trying to do away with MediCare, Social Security, etc. if this happens, the logical consequence is that older beneficiaries of such programs will be unable to pay their bills, keep their houses, maintain their health or their mental-emotional stability. for those unable to move in with family (placing a burden on them as well), thhere will be cases in which the elderly will end up kicked out of their homes and live on the street, with no healthcare or assistance of any type. this heightens the odds of death occurring earlier than otherwise.

if the plans to destroy Social Security and MediCare succeed, the GOP will be the real 'death panels'.
